Fasten your seatbelts!
The first annual West Asheville Soap Box Derby is coming to a hill near you!
Join us Saturday September 29th from 12-5pm.
Enjoy free admission to watch the creative talents of your friends and neighbors roll down a hill… and yes, with a medic on stand-by. Better yet, build a car, race it and win prizes! Prizes given for both speed and design including a crowd favorite. The food and beer will be local and delicious.
Contact us if you are interested in entering the race, being a vendor, a sponsor or a volunteer.
Soap box car racing goes way back but this isn’t your grandaddy’s box car event.
Individuals and/or teams can enter the race. Represent yourself, neighborhood or local business in what is bound to be the most fun you’ve ever had rolling down a West Asheville street! Racing in the West Asheville Soap Box Derby is open to adults only. Pine car racing will be available for children in the Kids Area.
There are only a few requirements your car must meet to be road worthy. You must be able to be steer it and stop it, with a minimum of three wheels and it cannot have an engine.
You’re not just building something mechanical, you’re building art! We encourage you to make your soapbox car out of second hand, recycled and reused materials.
