William Matthews Poetry Prize now accepting submissions

The Asheville Poetry Review holds its annual William Matthews Poetry Prize, a poetry contest with prizes including cash and publication in the journal. This year’s final judge is Patricia Smith (www.wordwoman.ws). Submissions are accepted until January 15, 2012: Send 1-3 poems any style, any theme, any length, with a $20 entry fee (payable to Asheville Poetry Review).

According to a press release, first prize is $1000, publication by Asheville Poetry Review, and a featured reading at Malaprop’s Bookstore. Second prize is $250, publication and a reading at Malaprop’s.
