WNC businesses selected for business accelerator

Press release from AdvantageWest Economic Development Group:

Eleven WNC businesses, out of more than 100 applicants, have been selected to participate in the inaugural class of Accelerating Appalachia, a first-of-its-kind business accelerator based here in the AdvantageWest region. The project, supported in part by AdvantageWest through a Rural Jobs Accelerator grant award from the Appalachian Regional Commission, is aimed at growing innovative, high-impact ventures in nature-based businesses such as sustainable agriculture, textiles, forest products, craft brewing, clean energy, wellness and the outdoor industry. BREC, AdvantageWest’s entrepreneurial development program (Blue Ridge Entrepreneurial Council), is one of several partners providing mentorship and guidance for the program, which starts October 3 and runs through early December.
