Here’s a list of the top 20 baby names for girls and boys born in Buncombe County so far in 2014, as recorded by the Buncombe County Register of Deeds Office.

Olivia and William were also the most popular local baby names in 2013.

Many of the top local names are also popular nationally. Olivia was the third most popular girl name in the U.S. this year, according to babycenter.com. The most popular boy name in the U.S. this year was Jackson, according to the website.

In the last 100 years, the most commong girl name in the U.S. has been Mary and the most common boy name has been James, according to the Social Security Administration.
