Green Opportunities anniversary and graduation

This year, Green Opportunities celebrates its 10th anniversary as a community grassroots job training program. Since it was founded by Dan Leroy and Dewayne Barton, the nonprofit has helped more than 600 people find employment. Green Opportunities will host a graduation ceremony for students who completed the 2017-2018 Kitchen Ready program, as well as graduates of its other job training courses, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in the gymnasium at the Arthur R. Edington Education & Career Center, 133 Livingston St. At the ceremony, students who have found jobs and met eligibility requirements will be awarded cars through the Working Wheels organization. The event is free and open to the community; light refreshments will be served. For details, contact Gwen Hill at gwen@greenopportunities.org.

The comments section is here to provide a platform for civil dialogue on the issues we face together as a local community. Xpress is committed to offering this platform for all voices, but when the tone of the discussion gets nasty or strays off topic, we believe many people choose not to participate. Xpress editors are determined to moderate comments to ensure a constructive interchange is maintained.
