The Welcome Table of Black Mountain

Come to the Welcome Table of Black Mountain for food and fellowship, and leave with a full stomach and friends. Black Mountain Recreation and Parks recently teamed up with retired chef John Crognale to bring the Welcome Table to the community of Black Mountain. A classically trained chef who has owned and operated restaurants in the past, Crognale decided to bring his culinary expertise to Black Mountain and promote the strength of community through a free meal once a week. The meal is served at noon every Wednesday at the Lakeview Senior Center Clubhouse in Black Mountain.

Crognale says, “The cooperation has been wonderful between the Black Mountain Recreation and Parks and the community. The outpouring of support [shows] the community’s willingness to work together.”

The Welcome Table is open to anybody who is looking for a chance to come as they are, free of worry or pressure, and to meet and grow closer to their neighbors. The dinner table has always been a place to spark conversation and to join with other people in fellowship, and that was the motivation behind offering hand-prepared meals, free of charge, to whomever wants to be a part of the Welcome Table.
