Local campaigning for the November elections is heating up, so Campaign Calendar will appear regularly from now until Xpress’ last edition before Nov. 4. We will spotlight campaign events that are open to the public, and we invite all candidates to send their campaign news for inclusion here. Please give us a brief description of the event, including the time, date and location, and don’t forget to give us a contact telephone number and e-mail address. Send all listings in writing to Nelda Holder at nholder@mountainx.com, or at PO Box 144, Asheville, NC 28802.

Xpress is committed to offering this platform for all voices, but when the tone of the discussion gets nasty or strays off topic, we believe many people choose not to participate. Xpress editors are determined to moderate comments to ensure a constructive interchange is maintained. All comments judged not to be in keeping with the spirit of civil discourse will be removed and repeat violators will be banned. See here for our terms of service. Thank you for being part of this effort to promote respectful discussion.
This is a note in response to a phone message regarding Campaign Calendar. The caller interpreted the Sept. 4 listing to be saying that Barack Obama would be appearing at the listed event, but the calendar entry (above) instead states that a SPOKESPERSON for Obama plans to attend. Hope this clears up any misunderstanding.
