A political party weekend

With the political season heating up, Buncombe Democrats and Republicans are both gearing up for a party this Saturday, with Dems holding their annual convention, and the GOP celebrating the grand opening of their new headquarters.

Amidst swirling rumors that President Barack Obama is coming to town — and so far, Democratic officials say they’re just rumors — the Buncombe County Democratic Party will meet for its annual convention 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the courthouse.

Meanwhile, the Buncombe County Republican Party is marking the opening of their headquarters at 365 New Leicester Hwy. with an event that will be attended by all the Republican local and 11th district congressional candidates. Their “Grand Opening Party” begins at 2:30 p.m.

Full announcements for both events are below.

Buncombe County Democratic Party Schedules Annual Convention for April 17

ASHEVILLE, N.C.  – The Buncombe County Democratic Party has scheduled its annual convention for Saturday, April 17, at the Buncombe County Courthouse.  Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the convention will be called to order at 10:00 a.m.

During precinct meetings in March, nearly 600 active Party members were elected from among Buncombe County’s 77,000 registered Democrats to serve as delegates to the 2010 convention.  At those meetings various resolutions were considered and passed; these will be brought before the convention.  Attendees will also elect delegates to the 11th District and State Conventions.

“Thanks to the hard work of Democrats statewide and in Buncombe, we turned North Carolina blue at all levels of government in 2008.  Our unrelenting commitment to the ideals of the Democratic Party will keep North Carolina blue in 2010,” said Charles Carter, Chair of the Buncombe County Democratic Party.

“However, in order to ensure that this progress continues, the Democratic Party needs concerned citizens now more than ever before,” Carter said.  “We all know there are challenges before us and an opposing Party unified in its efforts to block progress.”

“But after seeing what we can do when our Party stands united, my faith in our ability to continue moving North Carolina and America forward is stronger than ever,” Carter said. “I know that in the challenges before us we see opportunity, and we take an increased devotion to our cause.  Our cause will prevail.”

The cause of the Buncombe County Democratic Party is to elect Democrats to national, state and local offices. Its board members include Charles Carter, Chair; Michelle Pace Wood, First Vice Chair; Isaac Coleman, Second Vice Chair; Paul Choi, Third Vice Chair; Jake Quinn, Secretary; and Catherine Alter, Treasurer.

Does the Buncombe Democrat party feel the least bit responsible for RUINING our once great state over the past 130+ years of total domination and corrupt manipulation?

Did you know that the KKK was the RADICAL VIOLENT
arm of the democrat party, and they killed over 200 Black Republicans in Wilmington in 1898? Why dont they offer reparations for that?

Indeed, the individuals who participated should offer reparations for such activities.
