Blog Log: The week in local blogging

Once a year, area bloggers come together in person. It’s time to get ready for the third annual Extravablogiversapaloozathon and 2008 BlogAsheville Awards.

The event takes place in downtown Asheville on Saturday, Sept. 27, beginning at 6 p.m. For more information, stay tuned to BlogAsheville.

In the meantime, the awards contest is taking nominations here until Sept. 10 at 1:34 p.m. That’s right: 1:34 p.m. There are 21 categories of awards, ranging from “Best Overall Blog” to “Biggest Slacker” to “Blogger You’d Most Like to See Naked.” Once the nominations close, online voting will commence at BlogAsheville.

“The third annual Extravablogiversapaloozathon is going to be the biggest bash yet,” predicts a main event organizer, Gordon Smith of Scrutiny Hooligans. “With over 130 bloggers on the roll and lots of love from area techies, artists, and businessfolk, we expect to invite well over 200 people to tip their glasses to our collective efforts.”
