Blog Log: The week in local blogging

We haven’t been around in awhile, but something changed this week, and it’s time to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again … what it was we were doing back in December.

From the looks of things, Tuesday was a big deal for a lot of you. Even The Hangover Journals got gleeful for a moment before fretting about winter hats.

If you had a snow day, you were lucky, because both Zenscription and What the Hell? found that the workplace may not be the best place to watch the inaugural.

While pretty nifty, Obamifying yourself, a la Easy Bake Coven and Cranky Pants, wasn’t the only way to celebrate. For instance, Outside Clyde had Spam, Bruisin’ Ales Blog got hungover and Skippy Haha found what it is to be a machine of change.

And the gang at Scrutiny Hooligans? Well, they blogged every minute.

Meanwhile, Where’s the Outrage had these 22 thoughts followed by these 12 observations.

Sarx praised the return of science but bemoaned the tough talk, while Flypaper of the Mind chose to remain unimpressed.

Then Girl Who Wears Glasses almost didn’t mention it, but she was just taking us for a ride.

Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.

Before you comment

The comments section is here to provide a platform for civil dialogue on the issues we face together as a local community. Xpress is committed to offering this platform for all voices, but when the tone of the discussion gets nasty or strays off topic, we believe many people choose not to participate. Xpress editors are determined to moderate comments to ensure a constructive interchange is maintained. All comments judged not to be in keeping with the spirit of civil discourse will be removed and repeat violators will be banned. See here for our terms of service. Thank you for being part of this effort to promote respectful discussion.

Thanks for the shout-out! I should be honest and admit I’ve moved to Buffalo, NY: no longer local. But I love to imagine I still live in Ashvegas – especially on snowdays like we have (for six months out of the year).
