Cats and Dawgs, an eatery located at the Grove Arcade, is closing this Saturday, February 26. The note below was written by owner Debora Wessinger, whose breast cancer is currently in remission.
“This year was a challenge, to say the least. I was unable to be here most of the last year but my staff carried on without me. For a small business to be successful, the owner must be able to work long hours, which I am unable to do at this time. Although my health is improving, I have decided that I would like to spend more time with my family and enjoy the beautiful area we call home.
It is with deep sadness that we are closing Cats and Dawgs. Eight years ago, we opened our doors to provide affordable, casual food to our downtown neighbors. Many of you have become our friends. We will miss seeing you on a regular basis. But it is time for us to move on. We thank all of you for your loyal patronage.
Saturday, February 26 will be our last official day open.
I want to thank my staff … for keeping my dream alive while I am not here. I am proud of these fine people and wish them success in their future endeavors.
Again, thank you for the memories. We sure made a lot of them together!”
Thank you for many years of incredible food! Even when I was no longer living in Asheville I would make the drive from Tennessee to eat at your restaurant. I hope and pray that your health continues to improve and you enjoy your time with your family!
