Newly sworn in North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory will make his first stop on the job in Asheville today, Jan. 7.
One of his first public events since being sworn in Jan. 5, he’ll host a “Western NC Open House” at 5 p.m. at the Crest Conference Center (22 Celebration Place). More details and and the free RSVP system is here.
However, in addition to supporters, the Republican will be greeted in town by members of liberal advocacy organization, Progress North Carolina. The organization criticized the former Charlotte mayor intensely throughout last year’s campaign. It’s holding press conference at Pack Square Park in Asheville at 2 p.m. to “announce a new website and report highlighting McCrory’s pay-to-play problems,” according to a press release.
