Into the Forums

It has been an exciting week in the real world, with the drama of the Inauguration and the first few days of the Obama presidency capturing the world’s attention. Not surprisingly, the MountainX.com Forums have been abuzz with posts relating to this historic moment. From the condemnation of Krispy Kreme’s inauguration-celebrating donut giveaway by the American Life League to concern that ex-VP Dick Cheney’s wheelchair-bound appearance at the ceremony was less than genuine, “MX Boarders” have had plenty to say.

The current hot-button discussion on the presidential theme is Could Thomas Jefferson get elected in today’s America?

Moving on to more creativity-oriented topics, there was a surprising turnout in the Horrible Letter Art Thread, which asked forum users to create art using letters.

The Music subforum has been swept up in the slow-news-day shock-of-the-moment Britney Spears “If You Seek Amy” flap, although the majority opinion seems to be “So what?” Meanwhile, the music discussion is going wonderfully in Converting Records to Compact Disc and the “thread that won’t die,” What song is stuck on your head today?.

Even if you aren’t into comic books, there’s plenty of fun to be had reading The Final Crisis thread so Bugg can explain it to me thread, which is very short, but with a wonderful highpoint.

Like every Internet forum, the MountainX.com forums have their share of online drama. This week, however, ours collapsed under its own weight for a few days, as documented by this thread and the post-drama follow-up discussion. Thankfully, threads like The Break-Up Letter and The Official Off-Topic Thread kept things lighthearted during those dark, dark times.

And lastly, this week saw the introduction of a new subforum, Spirituality and Belief, which should prove to be a source of very interesting discussions in the future.

I’ve looked at the forums a few times. Seems a bit juvenile and b-o-r-i-n-g over there. Thsi is the adult side of the MX, I’ll stay over here, thank you!
