Just Us For All holding fundraiser, march this week to protest LGBT harassment

The local LGBT rights group Just Us For All is holding a fundraiser tomorrow, and the third annual We Are Not Bashful march, to raise awareness of harassment and bullying, on Friday.

Tomorrow, Thursday, May 17, JUFA will hold a “Don’t be Bashful” fundraiser at 10 p.m. at Cafe Solace, including music, a drag show, and photo booth. Suggested donation is $5.

The next afternoon, the group will hold the annual We Are Not Bashful march from Tod’s Tasties in Montford to the Vance Monument, where a variety of local speakers will talk on the issue of LGBT harassment. The march started three years ago in response to a series of alleged attacks in Montford.

“We’re Not Bashful continues to happen because queer people continue to be harassed and treated like second rate citizens,” JUFA President Sam Soper declares in this year’s announcement. “This year will be especially revealing after the May 8th vote; we will either have a celebratory event or one that pushes folks to take even more action.”
