Potentially hazardous winter weather on the way for some parts of WNC

The National Weather Service is cautioning Buncombe and Madison residents about potentially hazardous “wintry mix of precipitation across the area” Friday.

That should begin tomorrow, with snow and sleet turning into freezing rain for most of the day, then turning back into snow over northern Buncombe and Madison counties.

“There remains some uncertainty with regard to the amount of precipitation that will fall,” the notice reads. “This event could result in hazardous travel conditions across the region.

The ice, snow, and sleet are part of a system of winter weather moving through the region. Henderson, Jackson, and some other WNC counties are under a winter storm watch late tonight through Friday evening.
