Winter weather advisory through 9 a.m. tomorrow, multiple closings

With snow continuing to fall and patches of ice on the roads, the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory through 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, and warned of black ice, accumulating snow and severe wind chill overnight.

The warning advises locals to use caution while traveling, especially as more snow accumulates.

Many local institutions have cancelled activities or are closing early, according to a list from WLOS. The Asheville Transit System is shutting down early as well.

The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners will reschedule their annual retreat for a later date, but Asheville City Council is still holding its regular meeting.

County government is distributing a list of emergency numbers.
