The comments section is here to provide a platform for civil dialogue on the issues we face together as a local community. Xpress is committed to offering this platform for all voices, but when the tone of the discussion gets nasty or strays off topic, we believe many people choose not to participate. Xpress editors are determined to moderate comments to ensure a constructive interchange is maintained. Your cartoon is quite humorous and would be even funnier without the male commentary on the right.

  2. Thank you, and I agree with your suggestion. If I were doing just a general funny cartoon, the extra commentary would indeed, not be needed, or wanted. However, I try to adhere to my given task of creating a “local” cartoon about “topical” subjects and so the added, wordy remarks about making a plant into something it isn’t were in reference to state laws prohibiting hemp from being used as an agricultural crop finally being relaxed and the more general state-level efforts to decriminalize marijuana from the schedule I status it currently is relegated to. If I decide to reuse the cartoon elsewhere as just an exercise in puns, I will heed your advice and remove at least one of the two comments, if not both.
