Letter writer: Smith has proven track record as City Council member

Graphic by Lori Deaton

On March 15, we have an opportunity to vote. Our vote will help to improve our national and local governments. Among other choices, we have the opportunity to select a candidate for county commissioner.

I am voting for Gordon Smith and recommend you do the same. He is driven to serve the people he represents with a proven track record as one of Asheville’s City Council members.

Vote for Gordon if you think a commissioner should believe transparency and fiscal responsibility are necessities, if you think that land conservation and farmland preservation are important, and if business tax incentives should be focused on local businesses, not just large corporations.

Gordon has the drive, knowledge and creativity needed on the Buncombe [County Board of Commissioners]. Vote on March 15. Vote for Gordon Smith.

  1. Yep

No he does NOT…he refuses/resists constituent questioning on West Asheville (HIS NEIGHBORHOOD) issues and REFUSES
to get things cleaned up and roads fixed…he is NO leader and NOT worthy of your vote! Avoid Smithiness.

  2. Yep

Hell no…his record of constituent services is horrible while wasting time on non government projects like ‘FOOD’ policy..

Avoid the Smithiness…we cannot afford him on county commissioner..he taxes everyone to death and is a power monger…

  3. Yep

again…wonky website…why dont comments appear until after you post a 2nd time? WHERE is the ‘moderator’ ?

    • bsummers

People who don’t break the rules and are civil have their comments posted automatically without delay. Those who have been flagged for cursing or otherwise being abusive have to wait for the moderator to get around to reading their comments before they are posted.

How can you not know how this works?

      • Yep

because it’s never been clarified and during the workday one assumes the moderator is there doing his/her JOB!

      • Yep

because YOU are the superior being and I am not, Barry…I am but a worm, while YOU are the obvious ocean of wisdom…

  4. Asked what set them apart from their competitors at the ABLWV candidate forum, the Reverend Jasmine Beach-Ferrara said that we are “a wonderfully diverse county in many ways, including politically and religiously,” and that she was “tired of the shrill and partisan conversations we’ve been having,” as divisive blogger Gordon Smith sits perplexed beside her, as if to say, “WHA? WHO? WHA?”.
Watch for yourself: bit.ly/1Su2eUI (28:00) LOL.
