I’m writing to thank the Mountain Xpress and Brian Postelle for running the story “Midlife Nice-ness” in the [March 5] Conscious Party section of your paper. Turning 50 is great, but to have a party like The Eagle Flies on Sunday and raise awareness and money for a much-needed cause such as Loving Food Resources made my birthday an outstanding and memorable occasion! I’m pleased to tell you that we’ve raised almost $5,000.
We’re hoping that with major support such as [that of] the Mountain Xpress, this will be an annual fundraising event. People who have HIV/AIDS are living longer due to proper nutrition as well as the many advancements in medical research. Many outstanding and generous individuals and businesses came forward to support us. If I could shout the names from a mountaintop, I would—but even then I feel that wouldn’t be enough. So I’ll just try to make next year’s event even bigger and better.
