The 2008 Buncombe County Board of Commissioners race is going to be [an] interesting, as well as a pivotal, opportunity for us to shape our future in this county. I am excited that Holly Jones will join the race. Here’s one reason of many.
One of the most critical issues facing Asheville and Buncombe County is affordable housing. According to the National Housing Conference Web site, Asheville is the most expensive housing market in North Carolina. “For a community with many small businesses and few large employers—Mission Health & Hospitals … is the largest—this is a huge problem.”
Holly Jones has a proven track record with respect to this challenging problem, and her experience and energy will be of great service. In her letter announcing her candidacy, she explicitly expressed continued commitment “to making it possible for every person who works in Asheville to be able to afford to live in a safe, attractive home here.”
We need a voice like this representing us. To quote Jones again, “We need a vision for our future, to protect what we love and value about our County.”

Asheville
This letter is totally ignorant. Jones’ votes have severely reduced affordable housing and raised rents in Asheville, despite her lopservice, and her platform promises to devastate housing affordability in Buncombe, causing rents to skyrocket and displacing much of the African American community. There is no way Jones can be considered an affordable housing candidate especially county wide, except Bothwell is even worse

This statement exposes Ms Holly as a rather ignorant politician ..
“to making it possible for every person who works in Asheville to be able to afford to live in a safe, attractive home here.”
Yes, this plan smacks of some sort of socialist plot. It is incumbent upon all Americans to fight any and all redistribution of wealth. After all, there must always be an underclass to exploit.
