Keep your families safe

As an odd start, I’m beginning with an apology of sorts. I am not a great orator and am often not able to get my point across. Please bear with me, and if I do not get my point across clearly, please let this letter spark your interest to further investigate the issues.

Our children and grandchildren need your help. If we allow ourselves to be stripped of personal defense, our children and grandchildren may suffer and die from our nearsightedness. Today, right now, guns in our society might not be a necessity for our day-to-day survival. Tomorrow may be different.

How can we pretend to foretell the future? We can’t. We can’t unless we use history. History shows, time and time again, [that] governments fall, socioeconomic conditions change without notice and wars are common. We, as individuals, may very well need the knowledge, skill and tools to defend ourselves in an immediate, unforeseeable and very personal way if history repeats itself. Not today, maybe not in our lifetime, but it is likely it will happen. Our actions now will affect our families’ way of life or even life itself. Please do not allow the people who cannot see the future ramifications of their actions legislate away our descendants’ ability to protect themselves. Write your representatives.

On a separate note: I believe the terrorist threat to our country is real. Those leading the terrorist organizations have made it clear they will attack us on our own soil again.

I received a reprint of a recent article directed to law enforcement agencies describing a horrific, currently planned attack on our children. The terrorist organizations are [planning] to attack our schools. We need to take steps to thwart this. It seems logical we can mitigate the effectiveness of these attacks by following some of the guidelines set forth in the article (see jpfo.net/slaughterinschools.htm). Please take the time to read it and pass it on.
