Heath Shuler and Republican challenger Carl Mumpower, but the showdown that took place Oct. 30 on WWNC-570 AM was a doozy, with Mumpower labeling Shuler a “socialist,” and Shuler calling Mumpower a “polarizing figure” ill-suited to be an effective congressman for the 11th District.
