Cleveland Construction Announces Local Business Outreach Event for the Renovation of the Former BB&T Tower

Asheville, N.C. (November 22, 2016) – Cleveland Construction, Inc. will hold a local business outreach event for subcontractors, vendors and tradesmen in the Asheville area interested in participating in the construction of the Arras Residences and Hotel Arras (former BB&T building) in Asheville, North Carolina.

The local Business Outreach event will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 9 a.m.  to 12 p.m. at The Orange Peel Social Club on located at 101 Biltmore Avenue in downtown Asheville.

Developed by McKibbon Hospitality chairman John McKibbon and Tower Associates chairman Glenn W. Wilcox, Sr., the project is an adaptive reuse of the iconic 18-story BB&T Tower. The project, now named The Arras, will include a 128-room boutique hotel, two independent restaurants, 54 condominiums on the upper levels of the building, retail space for lease and onsite parking garage. Construction is scheduled to begin January 2016 and is expected to create an estimated 500 construction jobs.

This event offers a perfect opportunity for the local construction trades who are interested in the project to come and see the project plans, ask questions and meet Cleveland Construction’s management staff,” David Sawicki, Vice President at Cleveland Construction, says. “Our goal is to bring in as much local help as possible.”

During the open house, Cleveland Construction will give an overview of the project plans, schedule and goals. Computers will be set up for subcontractors to sign up to receive the bid notifications and project documents. Tradesmen looking for work are also encouraged to attend the open house. Tradesmen can personally submit their résumé for the many job opportunities that will be available during construction of the hotel.

Engaging local experts is at the core of McKibbon Hospitality’s vision for the development of The Arras, and we look forward to working with Cleveland Construction to assemble a strong team of subcontractors and vendors for this exciting Asheville project,” says Erik Rowen, Vice President of Development for McKibbon Hospitality.
