Press release

Fifth Season Gardening Co., a family-owned business specializing in hydroponics, organic gardening, homebrew and D.I.Y. products and expertise, will open its sixth store and second Asheville location on Saturday, Nov. 21st. The new store is located in the Asheville Market shopping center on South Tunnel Road, near the new Whole Foods Market.

Fifth Season Asheville Market boasts 12,000 square feet of retail and classroom space, as well as a 3,600 square foot outdoor nursery. The new store features Asheville’s largest selection of homebrew, organic gardening, hydroponic and urban homesteading supplies, as well as a wide assortment of rare and native plants and unique gifts for the home and garden.

Fifth Season Gardening has been a part of the Asheville community for over fifteen years, opening its first store downtown at 45 Banks Ave. in 1999. Longtime South Slope manager Mike Weeks and his wife Kristin are partners in the Asheville Market store, and have served an integral role in its development while continuing to manage the original location.

The Asheville Market store takes the Fifth Season concept to a new level, offering community-oriented experiences to help customers learn how to grow, brew, and make their own. The new store features a dedicated classroom that will host regular classes and workshops, and a Brew on Premises facility where customers can learn the craft, as well as brew using Fifth Season’s space and equipment. The store will host regular tastings and product demos and will sell Carrboro Coffee Roasters coffee, wine, snacks and eight local craft beers on tap to enjoy while you shop.

“We’re incredibly excited to try something we’ve never done before with Fifth Season Asheville Market,” says Fifth Season owner Richard Quinn. “With Brew on Premises equipment, classes and events space, we hope to build a community around the do-it-yourself approach to life we so strongly believe in. The new store will be a place to learn and enjoy yourself, to support sustainable practices like gardening and brewing, and to bring together local experts and hobbyists to share their skills.”

Fifth Season Asheville Market will celebrate the opening of the new store with Grand Opening festivities all day Saturday, Nov. 21st. Shoppers can enjoy free tastings, product demonstrations and workshops, and purchase $3 pints of beer all day long.
