Leadership Asheville accepting scholarships for leadership development session

Press Release

University of North Carolina Asheville

Leadership Asheville, the region’s foremost community leadership development organization since 1982, is now accepting applications for its 33rd annual Leadership Asheville session. The application deadline for Leadership Asheville Program 33 is Friday, May 23. The program is limited to approximately 40 participants.

The program’s unique format makes the community the classroom, bringing people together from all sectors who are interested in strengthening their knowledge of, commitment to, and involvement in collaborative leadership and community service. Participants develop an in-depth understanding of the greater Asheville community and acquire the skills and tools necessary to contribute in a variety of leadership roles.

“My Leadership Asheville experience was an eye-opening opportunity to learn more about the wealth of passionate and brilliant people who exist in our own backyard,” says Jes Williams (Leadership Asheville 25), vice president of financial development for the YMCA of Western North Carolina.

“I honestly feel that participating in Leadership Asheville Program 30 was the best personal and business decision that I have made since starting JB Media Group,” says social media entrepreneur Justin Belleme.  “I have made friends for life and developed my leadership and network in ways I could not have imagined before participating in this program.”

Many employers financially support their employees’ participation in Leadership Asheville; each participant is asked to personally contribute at least $200 toward tuition for the program. Financial assistance is available on a limited basis.

Leadership Asheville Program 33 begins with a full-day orientation and a separate two-day, one-night opening retreat, both in September, and continues with full-day monthly sessions through graduation on May 20, 2015. Additional involvement in the following year allows participants to meet and engage with a broader community of leaders.

Leadership Asheville, a program of UNC Asheville, receives generous support from its strategic partners: The Omni Grove Park Inn, Mission Health System, and TD Bank.
