Mars Hill College Awards I. Ruth Martin Award for Christian Service to Bob Cole

Bob Cole, a resident of Mars Hill, has received the I. Ruth Martin Award for Christian Service. The award was presented at the Mars Hill College Community Service Convocation April 16.

The award was established by I. Ruth Martin, MHC class of 1938, to be given to a Christian individual who has served faithfully without any spotlight recognition.

Cole is an active volunteer who helps pack and distribute food with Madison County Neighbors in Need. He is also a member of the senior adult council at Mars Hill Baptist Church, through which he visits and ministers to homebound people in the community. As an active member of the Church, he has served in several roles, including chair of the Finance Committee.

As treasurer of the Friends of the Library Board, Cole was active in helping raise funds for a new library in Mars Hill. He is also a former board member and treasurer for Madison County Habitat for Humanity, and a former board member and treasurer for the Kiwanis Club of Madison County.

Mars Hill College is a private, liberal arts institution offering over 30 baccalaureate degrees and one graduate degree in elementary education.
