NCAE endorses Hayden Rogers

From Hayden Rogers for Congress:

Brasstown, NC –Today Hayden Rogers announced he has received the endorsement of the North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) for his staunch support of public education.

“Hayden Rogers has an outstanding track record of working with the teachers of Western North Carolina on the most important issues facing educators today,” said NCAE President Rodney Ellis. “We are thrilled about Hayden’s candidacy and look forward to working with him in Congress to protect our classrooms, invest in public education, and move our economy and our country forward.”

Rogers is the son of local public school teachers and a product of the Graham County school system. After graduating from Robbinsville High School, Rogers took out federal student aid and worked night jobs to pay his way through Princeton University. While working as Chief of Staff to Congressman Heath Shuler (D-NC) over the past five years, Rogers served as a tireless advocate for teachers and students in Western North Carolina.

“Hayden is hands down the best choice to represent Western North Carolina in Congress,” said NCAE District 1A Director Rena Sutton. “He listens to us and truly understands the challenges facing our local students, teachers and the public education system. We see Hayden as a partner in making a difference for public educators and know he will be a strong advocate for us in Washington.”

“I am incredibly honored to receive the endorsement of the North Carolina Association of Educators,” said Rogers. “A strong public education system is the cornerstone of success in America. Education has always played a key role in my life, and unlike my opponent, I will always work to empower our local stakeholders while fighting for strong standards that ensure all students have access to a high-quality public education.”

Rogers is married to Dr. Donna Tipton-Rogers, president of Tri-County Community College in Murphy, NC. Their two daughters attend Murphy Elementary.
