Short Stacks for Big Change benefit to make shoebox gifts for children
Asheville area volunteers are participating in a “Short Stacks For Big Change” pancake breakfast to raise funds to bring shoebox gifts for children around the world. Asheville area individuals and families work year-round to fill empty shoeboxes with toys, school supplies and hygiene items for needy kids overseas. The shoebox gifts are then hand-delivered by Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, to children worldwide who are dealing with the effects of poverty, disease, war and natural disaster. The funds from this event will help in shipping and handling of these shoebox gifts.
The pancake breakfast will take place at Fatz Café, 5 Spartan Ave., Asheville on April 25, 8:00-10:00 a.m. and will include:
- Pancakes, sausage links, maple syrup, butter, mixed fruit, coffee, tea or milk
- Adult tickets are $7 and children 6 and under are free (limit one “free” child’s ticket per adult ticket)
