Highland Brewing Co. describes their Oatmeal Porter as “robust … black in color, very malty with hints of chocolate-roasted flavor and a well balanced hop character.” This brew, nominated by beer blogger Nick McCormac, was highlighted in a roundup of “The South’s Best Winter Beers” by Southern Living’s Hannah Hayes on Saturday, Jan. 10.

McCormac’s analysis of the flavor reads as follows:

Creamy and frothy, this beer looks like a luxe latte, and the addition of oatmeal makes it supremely silky. Easy to find and affordable, this porter is a solid choice.
