TEDMED talk on improv and Alzheimer’s at Black Mountain Center for the Arts, April 17

PRESS RELEASE from Black Mountain Center for the Arts:

What do Improv, Alzheimer’s and TED Talks have in common? Join locals Karen Stobbe and Mondy Carter on April 17 at 4pm at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts as they share their TEDMED talk about the parallels between Improvisation and caregiving for a person living with Alzheimer’s disease. The event is free, but donations will be accepted. The Black Mountain Center for the Arts is located at 225 W. State Street.

Performed last November in Palm Springs and just released days ago, the talk/performance was seen by 1000 people and over 120 countries when it was live streamed.

For almost twenty years, Karen has been conducting workshops and speaking all over the country. She created the dementia care curriculum for the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services and other national organizations. She and her husband Mondy perform regularly with their improv comedy group: Reasonably Priced Babies in Black Mountain and Asheville. Together they also care for Karen’s mom, Virginia who just turned 91.

Come on by, watch their TEDMED Talk, and have your questions about Alzheimer’s disease answered. Then end the event laughing with some fine improv comedy. Refreshments available.
