Big changes coming to the Civic Center

From a more colorful foyer to an arena with top-notch sound, lighting systems, new seating, and an enhanced concession area serving local craft beer, the venerable Asheville Civic Center will be undergoing some exciting changes over the next year — just in time for the return of the Southern Conference men’s basketball tournament in March of 2012.

Xpress staff reporters Michael Muller and Jake Frankel speak with Sam Powers, General Manager of the Civic Center and Director of Economic Development for the City of Asheville. In the following videos, Powers takes Xpress viewers on a guided tour and explains some of the big changes coming to the 35-year old downtown institution.

Hum where have I heard this before? I have been living here for thirteen years and this sounds vaguely familiar. Oh it must be one of my recurring dreams that never come to fruition.
