NCDOT hosts open house tomorrow at the Arboretum to discuss changes to I-26/Brevard Road interchange
A public meeting will be held tomorrow, Feb. 25, from 4-7 p.m., at the North Carolina Arboretum to discuss the upcoming proposed changes to the Interstate 26/Brevard Road interchange. Though no formal presentation will be given at the meeting, maps will be on display, and NCDOT staff will be on site to answer questions and receive comments on the new design.

Haywood Road overhaul: Asheville City Council takes up plan for area’s future
After months of development, a new plan for the future of West Asheville’s major corridor comes to Asheville City Council at its next meeting, Feb. 25. The plan calls for a new form of zoning, improved pedestrian infrastructure and keeping the area’s historic feel to make “a neighborhood leader for sustainability in the city.” If successful, other neighborhoods might get similar development overhauls.

Bomb scare at APD headquarters shut down streets earlier this morning
Hear a blast downtown this morning? After a woman left a large duffel bag at Asheville Police Department headquarters, police shut down surrounding streets and moved the package outside the building, where they “disrupted” it with a water blast. Only personal belongings were inside.
