It’s all part of the plan

Asheville will hold a series of public meetings to familiarize the public with the Downtown Master Plan, with a kick-off event on Thursday, May 8, at 6 p.m. at the Asheville Civic Center Banquet Hall. Attendees can expect to hear about the Downtown Master Plan process, meet the consultant team and break up into groups to give input about what they see as issues and opportunities for downtown Asheville, according to a press release.

The Downtown Master Plan is an initiative proposed by the Asheville Downtown Commission in hopes that citizens, elected officials, and city and Buncombe County staff can come together to address “the most pressing issues facing downtown today.” The Master Plan was funded by City Council in the 2007-2008 budget, and consultants were selected in early 2008.

Here’s a schedule of meetings coming up in May:

• Kick-off Public Meeting
Thursday, May 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Asheville Civic Center Banquet Hall

• Local Panel & Discussion: “History of Downtown Asheville: Understanding the Context”
Thursday, May 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Public Works Building, 161 South Charlotte Street

•  Community Educational Session: “Current Issues in Downtown Development”
Friday, May 30, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Location to be announced

* Downtown Master Plan Workshop
Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location to be announced

    Do a Google search for “Delphi technique”, read up, and then come to this thing and watch it in action!
