Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina offers a series of free seminars that provide job seekers an opportunity to interact with hiring managers of local businesses. The Professional Day Series is held every Tuesday from 2-3 p.m. at Goodwill’s Career Connections Center located at 1616 Patton Ave. in Asheville.
Career Connections Coordinator Jessica Korth explains, “We wanted to help people learn what employers are looking for so that they can be more successful in their job search.” She adds, “These professionals come from a variety of industries, including health care, hospitality and education.”
Laura James, who attended the Professional Day Series while seeking employment as an archeologist, shares, “I was under no pressure when talking to the visiting professionals since they were there to help me. They wanted to see me succeed, not necessarily with their company, but in the job market in general.”
Goodwill’s Career Connections Center offers free services to help job seekers secure employment, including skills assessments, career counseling, resume and cover-letter writing and assistance with applications. A wealth of employment resources are available at the center, such as computers with high-speed Internet access and one-on-one preparation for interviews.
If you are an employer interested in participating in a future Professional Day or a job seeker interested in attending an upcoming session, contact Korth at jkorth@goodwillnwnc.org or 298-9023.
