Western North Carolina AIDS Project will hold its popular “Dining Out for Life” fundraiser on Thursday, April 30. Despite the tough economic times, more than 90 restaurants in Asheville, Hendersonville, Black Mountain, Weaverville, Brevard, Saluda and Waynesville have stepped up to participate in the event, which is the AIDS organization’s biggest and most crucial yearly fundraiser.
WNCAP Development Director Laura Kirby says, “This challenging economy directly affects the services that we provide to over 330 clients living with HIV/AIDS in the western region. The funds we receive from ‘Dining Out for Life’ are essential in meeting the outreach, prevention, education and support-service needs of our community. New HIV infection rates in North Carolina are 40 percent higher than in the rest of the United States, and WNCAP has been confronting the crisis of HIV/AIDS in our community since 1986. This year, more than ever, we need folks to make a date to come out and dine on April 30.”
To participate in the event, simply eat breakfast, lunch and/or dinner at your favorite “Dining Out for Life” restaurant, and 20 percent of your bill will be donated directly to WNCAP. In addition, diners will have an opportunity to enter drawings for a seven-night Caribbean cruise and a spa package. The day-long event will wind down at an after-party with drinks, music and dessert at the Grove Arcade.
