The claim by Chad Nesbitt that the Buncombe County Republicans are friendly towards gays and lesbians is disingenuous to say the least. Nesbitt claims to be a beacon of tolerance because he doesn't care "what they do in the bedroom." But Nesbitt and the Republicans will regularly oppose any recognition of marriage rights for gays and lesbians.
Sadly, President Obama and the Democrats hold an identical position on this issue. Essentially, both major parties in this country hold the view that gays and lesbians are second-class citizens. It is also sad that the majority of those in both parties denying marriage rights to gays and lesbians are self-professed Christians who are very tolerant of divorce. It is interesting to read in the New Testament that Jesus says nothing on homosexuality, but some pretty harsh things on divorce.

The Republicans (like many Christians), are fond of picking and choosing which parts of the good book they choose to believe or spout out when cornered …
An astute women said Jesus was obviously single. Otherwise he would not have condemned divorce so unequivocally.
Chad Nesbitt needs to check into a mental hospital. Then he will have plenty of time to read the bible…
I should add I don’t claim to be any perfect Christian myself, and I believe in separation of church and state. I just find it ironic that most Republicans want to base government on the Bible, and end up elevating some obscure sexual references in Paul’s letters over what Jesus teaches.
fake christians will burn in the hell of their own design.
Yes, but would about fake Christians?
Chad Nesbitt is a strong male presence in Ashville, and God knows we need that! Personally, I would love to meet him, I feel we have an affinity for each other. Chad, please call me!!!
