Blue Ridge Community College Small Business Center will host Western North Carolina’s first Crowdfunding Conference on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at its Henderson County Campus. The event will be held from 1 to 5:15 p.m. and is offered at no charge, due to sponsor support from the Blue Ridge Community College Small Business Center and the JB Media Group.
The conference will present best practices and crowd funding strategies to fund a project or venture by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people, typically via the Internet. This multi-billion dollar industry brings parties together to fund business, film, music, art, theater, games, comics, design, and photography projects.
The schedule of talks include Is Crowdfunding Right for You?; Strategies for a Successful Campaign; Elements of an Effective Social Media Campaign; Video Tips for Telling Your Story and Crafting Your Pitch; and Tips from Companies Who’ve Done It.
Speakers for the event include Justin Belleme, 2014 Asheville Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur of the Year and Owner and Director of Strategy for JB Media Group; Kimberly Daggerhart, Director of Public Relations and Crowdfunding Manager for JB Media Group; Phil Davis, owner of Tungsten Marketing; Brooks Norman, owner of Top Rank Film Studios; and Adrianne Gordon, Director of Marketing with JB Media Group.
