Comporium partners with United Way for coat drive

Tichelle Williams, customer service representative at Comporium, makes room for more donated coats in the lobby collection box. Comporium’s business office in downtown Brevard will accept new and gently used coats through the month of January.

From press release:

Comporium of Brevard and United Way of Transylvania County (UWTC) are conducting a coat drive for new and gently used coats of all sizes throughout the month of January.

“We are heading into the coldest period of the year,” said Comporium General Manager Frank Porter.

“Warm clothing, shelter and food are necessities in life that no one should be without, especially children. We can’t tolerate that anyone in our area should have to suffer through the winter months without at least a warm coat, and this caring community can ensure that isn’t going to happen,” Porter added.

Comporium will match the first 25 community donated coats with a brand new coat. Anyone wishing to contribute can drop off coats at Comporium’s office on Main Street during normal business hours.

United Way of Transylvania County has already started distributing coats through local community service agencies. UWTC plans to make sure all donated coats get out to Transylvania County residents in need as quickly as possible.
