Clouds parted Monday evening to make way for a significant drop in temperature.
WLOS reports that 2.8 inches of rain fell Sunday in Asheville, breaking a year-long rainfall total just short of 74 inches.
The dreary weather preceded a cold front, leaving Asheville with a high of 34 today and a low of 17, according to the National Weather Service. Christmas Day should see a slight warm-up with a high of 41 and a low of 21.
