Halloween costumes aren’t just for people anymore! Increasingly, pet caretakers are dressing up their furry family members and taking them out on the town for this spooktacular holiday. Just in case you need some Halloween inspiration for your feline or Fido, we reached out to local animal rescue organizations and local business owners to showcase some creative Halloween pet costumes in this special slideshow. Once your four-legged friends have their holiday disguise, don’t forget that you can support local animal rescues on Halloween by taking your pets out to benefit events like the Howl-O-Ween Walkathon at Carrier Park (benefitting Brother Wolf) or the Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade in Downtown Black Mountain (benefitting Asheville Humane Society). Make sure to check out all of WNC’s animal-related Halloween events here.

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.
We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
