Youth OUTright announces February programs
Don’t miss Youth OUTright’s great lineup of programs in February. Programs are held every Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in downtown Asheville. Plus, YO’s monthly expressive arts program is happening WEEKLY on Thursdays in 2014! From 5-6:30 pm at our regular space in FCUCC at 20 Oak Street, YO will host local teachers and artists to instruct us in all the creative arts Asheville has to offer! Each month will feature a theme–Poetry, Dance, Comedy, Circus Arts, etc.–and each week of that month will feature a different workshop or activity on that theme. February will focus on knitting, crafts (with programs devoted to t-shirt design and screen printing), plus crafting for fundraising.
Sunday 2/2: Movie Night
Thursday 2/6: Express YO-Self: Knitting with Pride! We’ll knit with pride, discussing the color schemes used in various pride flags and pride symbols.
Sunday 2/9: LOVE! A program on the “Love languages” we use and valentines to yourself: One of our long-time YO participants will lead a discussion of how we give and receive love and we’ll craft the Valentines we’d LOVE to get!
Thursday 2/13: Express YO-Self: T-shirt design and DIY screen-printing and stenciling.
Sunday 2/16: Karaoke–Disney themed!
Thursday 2/20: Express YO-Self: Craft for a cause–crafting for fundraisers. Wonder what you can offer to a contributor to your indiegogo, kickstarter or gofundme venture? Wondering how you can turn your creativity into fundraising fun? From crowd-funding thank you gifts to activist efforts, we’ll use crafts to keep your ventures moving!
Sunday 2/23: Attendees from the Creating Change conference in Houston will present highlights from their favorite workshops and activities.
Thursday 2/27: Express YO-Self: Craft–Another awesome night of crafting with YO!
Youth OUTright, WNC, Inc., a 501c-3, not-for-profit organization, offers discussion groups and social activities for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth, ages 14 through 23. Topics and activities are led by two trained facilitators. Youth OUTright’s mission is to empower LGBTQ youth to be confident and vital members of the greater community.
