In conjunction with the opening of its latest art show, ZaPow gallery has put out a first-ever call to artists wishing to contribute artwork to a memorial shrine honoring the late artist David Bowie.
ZaPow invites artists to contribute pieces following these guidelines:
Bring or ship your art to ZaPow from noon to 7 p.m. on January 13 to 16.
We will not sell any of the David Bowie art contributed by the public. This will be purely a memorial shrine included in the Fringe Exhibit. It will exist purely for art’s sake. The rest of the art in the gallery from our member artists will be on sale as normal.
Please pick up your David Bowie memorial piece from February 16-23. Any pieces left after the February 23 will be donated to a local art auction for charity. All David Bowie memorial art that is shipped to the gallery will be donated to charity.
David Bowie memorial pieces must be no larger than 24″ x 24″ x 24″, and they may not be made from a material that is dangerous, hazardous, odorous or has the potential to rot.
On January 19 from 7 to 9 p.m., ZaPow will host an opening reception for The Fringe Art Show. The David Bowie memorial art will also be on display. Asheville Brewing Company will provide free beer samples.
The gallery’s press release describes the event:
Visual artists join in on the fun for this year’s Fringe at this special event where the ZaPow artists push the boundaries of illustration and 2D visual narrative to the edge and over. Expect the unexpected as Fringe Festival artists may pop-up and do short performances in the gallery space.
