Smart bets: Jeeves Intervenes

Based on the stories of P.G. Wodehouse and adapted by playwright Margaret Raether, English comedy Jeeves Intervenes follows “supremely competent” lead character Jeeves as he springs to the aid of a couple of “high-society fools,” according to a media release. The two misguided childhood pals (played by locals Scott Treadway and Charlie Flynn-McIver) intend to solve each other’s struggles — a failing marriage and undesirable job — through disguise and deceit until loyal assistant Jeeves (Michael MacCauley) intercepts their half-hatched ideas. North Carolina Stage Company hosts the production from Wednesday, Jan. 27, to Sunday, Feb. 21, Wednesday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Special event nights include pay-what-you-wish tickets, pre-curtain hors d’oeuvres, $1 beers, an actor Q&A and a post-play dessert and Champagne toast with the cast and crew. $16-$36 ($10 student). ncstage.org.     This play was absolutely a GENIUS! The set is marvelous, the characters well acted and costumes, lighting, sound and makeup superb! This is one you don’t want to miss, how can you go wrong with Mike, Charlie and Scott together? The lines in the first half of the play had the timing a bit off however by the second act the timing was so on point we were laughing hysterically! A Standing O for EVERY performance it was truly one of the best we have ever seen at NC Stage! LOVE LOVE LOVE the set!
