APD seeking public assistance locating hit-and-run suspect

Asheville Police Department Requests Public Assistance Locating Corey Ryan Miller

Asheville, N.C. (July 26, 2016): Yesterday evening at approximately 8:30 p.m. the Asheville Police Department responded to the intersection of Tunnel Road and New Haw Creek Road in regards to a motor vehicle collision. The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department was already on scene and advised that they had observed a verbal domestic disturbance on the off ramp from I-240W to Tunnel Road. While Deputies were attempting to investigate the disturbance, the suspect fled in his vehicle at a high rate of speed which resulted in the driver crashing into a vehicle while traveling on the wrong side of the road. The suspect then fled on foot. The driver of the vehicle that was hit was transported to Mission Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

While searching for the suspect the Asheville Police Department received a report of a breaking and entering in progress on New Haw Creek Road. The victim reported that a male, matching the suspect’s description and providing the suspect’s first name, had broken into her vehicle and assaulted her. Officers from both agencies saturated the area and conducted an extensive search to locate the suspect.

The Asheville Police Department requests public assistance locating Corey Ryan Miller, of Brevard, N.C. Miller is a white male, 23 years of age, approximately 6’3”, 210 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Miller currently has five open warrants in connection with yesterday’s incident:

  • 1. Misdemeanor Interfere with Emergency Communications
  • 2. Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property
  • 3. Misdemeanor Reckless Driving to Endanger
  • 4. Felony Breaking or Entering a Motor Vehicle
  • 5. Felony Hit and Run Injury
