Local art-rock collective Midnight Snack launches its new video, made with a surreal, under water-type filter.
“The music video was filmed in and around Asheville,” says Peter Brownlee (bass). “‘Closer’ is about getting back to something that makes you feel complete. I think for some people that can be a person, a place, a feeling, anything really. We wanted to capture that feeling of trying to get back. I think that journey can be peaceful and contemplative, and it can also be chaotic.”
Jack Victor (songwriter/drums/vocals) adds, “When I started working on recording ‘Closer’ with Mike [Johnson (guitar)], he had the idea to cut up the piano and drum parts that I was playing so he could make them into a series of loops. Then he pieced them back together in a new order like a hip-hop producer might do. That became the foundation for the track and we all layered our parts on top of it in the studio.”
