Press release from the Haywood Regional Medical Center:

Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC) cordially invites all community members to a baby and children’s fair on Saturday, June 2, from 10 am to 1 pm at the Haywood Regional Health & Fitness Center, located at 75 Leroy George Drive, Clyde (adjacent to the hospital).

This event will encompass numerous HRMC vendors, as well as community vendors offering services. Examples include: Waynesville Wellness Center will be offering a free ultrasound of your baby’s heartbeat (no image), Haywood Community College will be providing Child and Baby CPR education and training, and Haywood Co. Library will be present to market their reading programs for children, which include service dogs that children can read with. Enjoy pregnancy and baby health information, prenatal yoga and massage demonstrations and information, first aid for children, child seat safety education and checks, giveaways, and children’s activities. Community members will also get the opportunity to meet local obstetricians, certified nurse midwives, doulas, lactation consultants, and pediatricians.

Children are invited to bring their own stuffed animal or stuffed friend with them for a check-up at the Blue Ridge Health booth. This hands-on opportunity encourages children to interact with common medical equipment such as a stethoscope as they become doctors or nurses to give their stuffed friend a check-up! Children can also enjoy face painting, balloon twisting, a play area, and take part in a funny face photo contest.

“This really is an event for just about everything mom, baby or children. There are numerous educational opportunities such as CPR and first-aid, but most importantly community members can come learn about services close to home as a parent or for your children to be a part of,” says Dr. Jenny Van Winkle, OBGYN with HRMC.

Vendors include: Haywood Regional Medical Center, Haywood Regional Health & Fitness Center (massage, children’s fitness classes, swim lessons, pool parties, and nursery), Haywood Breast Center, Mountain Pediatric Group, Haywood Women’s Medical Center, Asheville Doulas, Blue Ridge Health Center, Mother’s Connections, Haywood Regional Pediatric Therapy, Family Nurse Partnership, DoTerra Essential Oils, Kindermusik, Waynesville Wellness Center, Haywood Co. Library, Car Seat Safety – Waynesville Fire Department, Baby & Children’s CPR – Haywood Community College, Dark Hollow Photography, Haywood Co. Health Department, Big Brothers, Big Sisters of WNC, Great Beginnings Dentistry, Part-T-Perfect (face painting, balloon twisting) and more.

Catering provided by Chick-Fil-A Waynesville. Let us know if you’re coming by calling 800-424-DOCS (3627). RSVP not required, but appreciated.
