Brevard College Theatre presents ‘All in the Timing’ by David Ives, Sept. 27-30

Press release from Brevard College:

Come out for a night of monkey’s, cafe patrons, and French impersonators as Brevard College Theatre opens their first production of the 2018-2019 season with, “All in the Timing,” by playwright David Ives. This comedy wraps David Ives’ love of playing on words and existential perspectives on life into a witty production sure to make the entire audience laugh.

Assistant Professor of Theatre, Peter Savage will be directing, “All in the Timing,” featuring  a cast of Brevard College students. “All in the Timing,” is a collection of comedic and thought provoking one acts that explore random topics such as monkeys trying to rewrite Shakespeare, cafe patrons finding themselves in alternate realities, and an average New Yorker deciding to be a French impressionist painter for a day.

Literary and pop culture references fill the play, and as irreverent as each scene may be, audience members will no doubt see themselves and their relationships in the struggles of each character.

Director Savage states, “This will be the third time I have directed this play. People often suggest that I must be ‘tired of it’ but the exact opposite is true. With each new production and each new cast of actors, I discover things I’d never thought of before, or find more interesting ways of staging a moment to make it more clear. With this Brevard production, we are really trying to tie all the plays together and see them thru the lens of the characters ‘discovering their humanity.’ Our hope is that patrons will not only laugh but leave the theatre with some new ideas to ponder.”

Brevard College theatre students are involved with everything: set design, makeup artists, lighting, sound, ticketing, acting, and more with the support of professors and alumni.

The show will take place in The Porter Center for Performing Arts’ black box theatre, the Morrison Playhouse beginning on Thursday Sept. 27, at 7:00 p.m. Additional performances will be Sept. 28 and 29 at 7:00 p.m., as well as a matinee on Sept. 30 at 2:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $10 and student tickets are $5. Tickets are available for purchase online at etix.com and at the box office an hour before each performance.
