On Wednesday evening at approximately 11:26 p.m., the Asheville Police Department responded to Deaverview Apartments after reports of shots fired. While responding to Deaverview, APD received an additional call reporting a victim of a gunshot wound in the area of Boyd Avenue and Ivy Street. APD responded to both locations. Once we arrived and conducted an initial investigation it was determined that the two incidents were related.

Upon arrival at Boyd Avenue and Ivy Street we located a pregnant female who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to Mission where she later succumbed to her injuries. Investigators are working diligently to ensure that all proper notifications to the victim’s family are made prior to releasing her identity.

This incident is under further investigation. If anyone has any information they are encouraged to contact the Asheville Police Department at 828-252-1110 or Asheville-Buncombe Crime Stoppers at 828-255-5050, if they wish to remain anonymous.
