Press release from Carolina Jews for Justice/West:
We may have repealed HB2, but transgender and gender nonconforming people still face tremendous barriers to safety and justice in North Carolina, and we need to talk about it! If you’re committed to the ongoing struggle for gender justice, but sometimes feel a little tongue-tied and unsure of how to be a good ally, please join Carolina Jews for Justice on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 4:00-6:00 p.m., in Dave Hall of Congregation Beth HaTephila, for “Let’s Talk About Gender Justice!” In this workshop, we’ll learn from Allison Scott of the Campaign for Southern Equality and Cole Parke from CJJ about how to ensure that our language reflects our commitment to justice for trans and gender nonconforming people, and Rabbi Goldstein will share trans-affirming examples from Jewish texts that reinforce the imperative of this work.
