The Humane Society of the United States and Transylvania County Animal Services will host animal cruelty and fighting investigations training for law enforcement in Brevard, North Carolina, to discuss how law enforcement can better respond to reports of animal cruelty.
Topics will include a background on animal fighting and abuse in North Carolina, the link between animal abuse and other violent crimes, investigations into cruelty and fighting complaints as well as developing warrants, gathering statements and recognizing key evidence.

WHAT:
Attendees will learn about laws currently in place to prevent animal fighting and abuse, trends connecting animal cruelty and other violent crimes, the investigation process for cruelty and fighting, and recognizing the signs of animal cruelty. The training is free and is open to law enforcement, animal control, humane investigators, code enforcement officers, veterinarians and prosecutors.WHEN:
